Roots From The Very Foundations...

Rockers International. A label synonymous with true roots music. Last week, the Trinity Centre saw host to very special guests direct from Kingston, Jamaica – Addis Pablo and the Suns of Dub, for the latest chapter of Teachings. And what a lesson it was!

Following on from the Deep Medi session in February, this chapter rolled back to the very foundations with none other than Bristol’s own Negus Melody sound system providing the stacks. Always a St. Pauls carnival favourite, with veteran Ras Kama on the controls, Negus delivered heavyweight sounds from the very off. Playing an ever tasteful selection of both old and new releases, they certainly got the crowd warmed up and moving.

Then it was time for the Suns of Dub to step up to the control tower. With Ras Jammy, Jah Bami and of course Addis Pablo on melodica, they certainly kept the vibes pumping, delivering a conscious selection of roots and steppas – showing that soundsystem culture is still alive and well in Jamaica, with the next generation of dubwise in safe hands. And after a huge applause, it was back to Ras Kama to drive the session to the very end. A true education in dub.

Do remember Friday the 12th of June is our final chapter of dub before we break for the summer.  Join the Facebook Event to stay tuned for more info, we will be revealing the lineup very soon!  Bless up
